Rwanda offers one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences on earth—gorilla trekking in the misty mountains of Volcanoes National Park. This 3-day safari is designed for travelers who seek an intimate and awe-inspiring encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Beyond the trek, this journey gives you a chance to explore Rwanda’s beautiful landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality in a short yet unforgettable adventure.
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Your tour begins with a warm welcome in Kigali, Rwanda’s clean and vibrant capital. Depending on your arrival time, you may embark on a brief Kigali City Tour, including visits to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local markets, or art galleries that showcase Rwanda’s resilient spirit and creativity.
After lunch, depart for Volcanoes National Park, located in the northwestern part of the country. The scenic 2.5-hour drive winds through lush hills and rural landscapes, offering spectacular photo opportunities. Arrive in Musanze (Ruhengeri) by late afternoon, where you’ll check in to your lodge and relax in preparation for the thrilling day ahead.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
This is the highlight of your safari! After an early breakfast, head to the Kinigi Park Headquarters for a briefing by park rangers. You’ll be assigned to a specific gorilla family group based on your fitness level and preferences. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 5 hours depending on the location of the gorillas, but every step is part of the adventure.
When you finally find the gorillas, you’ll spend one magical hour observing them in their natural surroundings—watching juveniles play, mothers nurse their infants, and silverbacks calmly asserting their authority. This moment is truly humbling and unforgettable.
After the trek, return to the lodge to freshen up. In the afternoon, you may opt for an optional community visit to the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about local traditions, music, and dance.
Overnight: Same as Day 1
